House on left was occupied at various times by the Banks, Wheat, Thornhill, and Grey families (house #80 or #78 on old map). The mailbox indicates that the picture was made before Brownville had a post office. (Check out the wooden water tank. I suppose it supplied water for the steam engine. Also the old store can be seen in the far background).
